Afghans Host Nowruz Celebrants
Nowruz Festival is an ancient ceremony of the Persian culture that marks the vernal equinox, this year celebrated on March 21st. In the northern hemisphere, this signals the first day of spring.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Tajikistan's Emomali Rahmon, and Afghanistan's Hamid Karzai are scheduled to attend the third trilateral summit of Persian-speaking countries on March 20 and 21.
The heads of states are meeting in Mazar Sharif in a bid to strengthen cultural ties and the advancement of the Persian language, in particular.
This year Uzbekistan is slated to join the meeting as a Nowruz-celebrating country that has been marking the event for at least 2,500 years.
